MYTH: "Some people are logical 'left-brained,' others creative 'right-brained.'" Verdict?

DEBUNKED as a personality claim. Specific functions can be lateralized locally, but no individual has a globally dominant hemisphere network.

Nielsen et al. (Univ. of Utah, 2013) analyzed brain imaging from 1,011 people looking for evidence that individuals lean on one hemisphere overall. They found none: while particular functions (e.g. aspects of language) are handled more on one side locally, no person showed a globally stronger left- or right-hemisphere network.

Both hemispheres cooperate in virtually every task. "I'm a right-brained creative type" is a personality label, not neuroscience — the anatomy doesn't sort people that way.
