What is "multiperspectivity" (Multiperspektivität), and what is the key claim attached to it?

Looking at the same thing from many viewpoints at once — with the claim that the perspectives are of equal value (Gleichwertigkeit der Perspektiven), none automatically the "true" one.

If reality is constructed and everyone constructs from their own history, then any single object is genuinely seen differently from different positions — like arrows pointing at one centre from all sides. Multiperspectivity is the discipline of deliberately gathering those views instead of privileging your own. The radical part is the equal-value premise:

  • No perspective is the master key that overrides the rest by default.
  • "Different" doesn't mean "wrong"; competing readings can each be valid from where they stand.
  • The richer picture comes from combining perspectives, not from picking a winner.

This is the operational heart of systemic, multidimensional thinking — and a direct strengthener of critical thinking, because it forces you to take opposing views seriously rather than dismiss them.

Tip: Treat a disagreement as extra data about the object, not just a contest to win.
