Which "decision catalysts" (Entscheidungskatalysatoren) help get decisions made in your favor?

Preparation, what-if scenarios, lobbying, stakeholder management, offering three options, and confident presence.

  1. Vorbereitung (preparation) — know the facts, the numbers, the objections before the meeting
  2. What if …? — scenario thinking: show consequences of not deciding ("what if we get breached without this control?")
  3. Lobbying — win supporters informally beforehand; never let the meeting be the first time decision-makers hear the idea
  4. Stakeholder Management — systematically identify who is affected, who can block, who can sponsor — and address their interests
  5. Drei Optionen (three options) — present alternatives (e.g. minimal/recommended/maximal) instead of a yes/no ultimatum; people decide between options rather than against you
  6. Auftreten (presence/appearance) — confident, competent delivery; form influences acceptance as much as content

Tip: "Drei Optionen" is the most practically useful trick for security budgets: instead of "we need X CHF" (invites "no"), offer risk-tiered packages — the discussion shifts from whether to how much.
