Question
How do you decode a two-consonant peg word back into its number?
Answer
Read the two coded consonant sounds in order and map each to its digit — ignore vowels, h, w and y.
This is the reverse of the peg list: the skill you use when replaying a memorised story into digits. Every double-digit peg has two coded sounds; name them left to right, convert with the 0–9 key, and you have the number. Watch the sound-not-spelling traps (a silent letter, a soft vs hard c/g, an s that sounds like z), flagged below where they bite.
