Question
Going the other way — given a peg word, how do you get its number back?
Answer
Say the word, keep only the consonant sounds you hear, and map each to its digit — vowels and h/w/y are silent.
This reverse drill trains decoding, the half you use when reading a memorised story back into digits. For a single-digit peg there's exactly one coded sound: strip the free letters and what's left names the number. The ten cards below are the classic single-digit pegs, asked in reverse.
